Biografia[]

Dunkelzahn (około 13,000 pne - 9 sierpnia 2057) was a Western Great Dragon. He was the 7th President of the UCAS elected, and the 52th President of the USA and UCAS, during the UCAS Special Presidential Election of 2057 and assassinated short after. The policy led by his sucessor Kyle Haeffner can still be considered as marked by Dunkelzahn's ambitions to fight against racism, exclusion and poverty and renew UCAS international relations.

Dunkelzahn first Awakened in Cherry Creek Lake, Denver on January 12, 2012, weeks after the first dragon sightings. Of all the reporters vying for an interview, anchorwoman Holly Brighton won the contest, and he was interviewed for a mind-boggling twelve hours and sixteen minutes. He became famous first for interview he gave and a regular show he hosted, Wyrm Talk. During these interviews, he used an interpreter, the last of which was Nadja Daviar. In 2056 he applied and obtained UCAS citizenship by a special act of the UCAS Congress, moving his primary residence from Lake Louise in Algonkian-Manitou to Prince Edward Island, UCAS.

In 2057, his citizenship allowed him to run in the Presidential Election, as an independent. He won by a narrow margin on 7 August. A few hours after being sworn in on 9 August, he died in the explosion of his limousine near Watergate Hotel.

At this date, Dunkelzahn has been serving the shortest Presidential term ever in USA and UCAS history, 10 hours 23 minutes and 8 seconds. He is so far the only non-human and only dragon to hold the office of President of the USA or UCAS, easily making him the tallest, longest and heaviest President ever (although it is argued under human form he stayed well under Lincoln's 193cm ; according to some rumors, he privately said his human form was voluntarily shorter than Lincoln), the first blue president, the oldest acting President, and the only one to be born before the Christian era.

Dunkelzahn would also have been the second President after Thomas Jefferson to pick a friend as First Lady, having no wife, daughter or relative of any sort available for the duty.

20-585: Dunklezahn[]

Price: $10.25
Figures: 1
Parts: 9
Publish Date: 2001
Waga: 110g eee
Overview: The late president-for-a-day Dunkelzahn (note the spelling, please, Ral Partha...) makes an impressive figure in 25 mm. He's depicted sitting on the ground with his wings folded, and pointing to something or other with his left hand, his tail curled behind him. The parts show good detail of scales, teeth, and so on, and the figure really looks like a western dragon. Of course he need not be painted up as Dunkelzahn, you could make him just a generic western dragon if you like. Dunkelzahn himself is, according to the cover of Portfolio of a Dragon: Dunkelzahn's Secrets a blue dragon, and some sources give him a silver underside. On the other hand, the 2057 election poster on the front of Super Tuesday!, shows him as a green/yellowish dragon... For what it's worth, I painted mine blue with silver. Assembly is needed for this figure, and I suggest either soldering or using epoxy glue, as super glue will not be strong enough to allow the figure to be handled often.

Wikipedia[]

Dunkelzahn is a character from the Shadowrun book and role playing game Series. He was a blue and silver Great Western Dragon who took an interest in the development and technology of humanity and up until the time of his death appeared to be genuinely interested in the preservation of the species.

Character History[]

Dunkelzahn first appeared on 12 January 2012 (having been in hibernation during the magical downcycle pre-2011) at Cherry Creek Lake, Denver in the United Canadian and American States (UCAS). At this time he gave a 12-hour interview to reporter Holly Brighton.

Dunkelzahn became fascinated with the media and hosted the occasional talkshow Wyrm Talk for many years (often on whatever subject interested him at the time). As draconic communication is telepathic, and this is not receivable by technology in the Shadowrun universe, he used a translator (or 'voice') who would repeat his words to the camera.

In 2056 he became a citizen of UCAS and in 2057 he ran for the Presidency as an Independent. In an unexpected victory Dunkelzahn became the first metahuman President of the UCAS. He was seemingly assassinated on 9 August 2057—the night of his inauguration—by a magical attack on his limousine outside the Watergate Hotel in Washington D.C.. This which resulted in an 'Astral Rift' at the site of his death; every mage who attempted to study it either died or was driven insane.

His last voice, an Eastern European elven woman named Nadja Daviar, was subsequently made Vice President of UCAS and CEO of a new corporation set up according to his will to administer his estate, the Draco Foundation.

Dunkelzahn's brother, Ghostwalker, appeared several years after his death in 2061.

It would subsequently be revealed in the Dragon Heart Saga books that Dunklezahn committed suicide in order to power a magical artifact called The Dragon Heart which would be used to keep humanity safe from a great enemy from another plane of existence.

Name[]

The name "Dunkelzahn" is german for "Dark Tooth". It was, however, just the name he used in public in the 21st century. His draconic name (and/or title) was "Far Scholar". This was a private term and never used outside the company of other dragons. The character's nickname, both in the fictional worlds and out of it was "The Big D". This was occasionally used as his username in fictional online discussions.

Earthdawn Links[]

There is a major dragon in the RPG series Earthdawn—originally produced by the same publisher as Shadowrun—by the name of Mountainshadow. One of Mountainshadow's agents or alter-egos is called "Dark Tooth" (the English translation of the German "Dunkelzahn"), implying that Dunkelzahn and Mountainshadow are the same dragon at different points in history.

If this is true, then Dunkelzahn is the brother of Ghostwalker, the great dragon that emerged from the Dunkelzahn Rift during the Year of The Comet. According to Earthdawn lore, Mountainshadow and Icewing (aka Ghostwalker) were borne of 'All-Wings' last clutch before her destruction.
