Al Azif is a book bequeathed to Dr. Alan Gordon in Dunkelzahn's Will.[1]

History

Al Azif, also known as the Necronomicon, was first identified by science fiction author H.P. Lovecraft. He described it as coming to him in a dream in 1910. Dr. Alan Gordon hypothesized that the 1910 arrival of Halley's Comet may have created a mana spike allowed Lovecraft to learn of this book through "dream walking".

It next appeared in 2057 as an item bequeathed to Dr. Alan Gordon as part of Dunkelzahn's Will.[1] Dr. Gordon used the book to help map the astral planes.

Some time before 2076 the book was studied by Magister as part of developing the Jackpoint post, Aetherology.[2]

Description

The book is known to be fairly thick, and described as a tomb. Dr. Gordon claimed that it bestowed upon him visions of metaplanes.[3] The book is partially burned, and written in Arabic. Dr. Gordon described it as difficult to translate.[2]

Contents

Not much is known about the contents of Al Azif. However, it is known that it describes at least three beings living in the astral sea[4]:
