The Business Recognition Accords or BRA were submitted to world governments by the Corporate Court in 2042. They define minimal rights to be granted by local authorities to AA megacorporations and AAA prime megacorporations, usually referred to by the term of extraterritoriality. Sovereign governments can grant additional rights to those corporations, or similar rights to other corporations. The signing governments also recognize the Corporate Court as the arbitral body to settle disputes with said corporations.
A majority of world governments have signed the BRA. Those who did not include Amazonia, Aztlan,[1] Bolivia,[2] Ecuador,[3] Iran,[4] Manchuria, Tír na nÓg, Tir Tairngire, and Yakut.[1] Switzerland has so far avoided signing the BRA by creating a number of Extraterritorial Business Zones,[5] while the Scandinavian Union has signed a modified version of the BRA with several amendments.[6] The Republic of Québec did not sign the BRA until after Crash 2.0.[7]
