The Catacombs are Boston's underground.
The Catacombs is the subterranean community of Boston. It's origins lay in the miles of old maintenance shafts and stations, and tunnels, which were sealed off during the subway construction work of 2005-2013 and 2030-2035.[1] It's now a network of caves, basements, underground tunnels, and sewers. It has its civilized parts, suburbs, and wilds. To shadowrunners its a combination of shopping mall, hunting ground, meeting spot, bolthole, nightclub, secret passage, and storage locker.[2]
It's currently full of refugees from Boston. Originally the trolls and dwarves moved into the catacombs. The orks followed the trolls and humans followed the dwarves. Elves arrived too but most of them have stayed by the entrances. It's population is estimated to be in the thousands at the low end with estimates as high as in the hundreds of thousands. Within the Catacombs are many non-locals who ended up trapped in Boston and lacked corporate SIN and therefore weren't able to find sanctuary in the corporate towers.[3] Ruling the Catacombs are Mama's Boyz.
