Data Havens are shadow Matrix facilities designed to back up data, usually of an illegal persuasion. The largest known data haven is the Denver Nexus.
Data Havens are usually highly secured both physically and over the Matrix. They are often tied in to the shadow communities of their respective regions and keep backups as well as facilitate distributing redundant backups to offsite locations.
Sysops often live within a data haven's physical location because, if they were to be extracted, they could end up compromising the security of the data haven, both physically and over the Matrix.
