Datajacks are cybertechnology implants that allow metahumans to directly access computers and information with their mind. They typically resemble a coin-sized dataport that is implanted either on the side of the head (typically in the temporal region of the skull, behind the ear or on the temple) or the back of the neck (just below the brainstem), although a datajack can be placed anywhere in the body. Datajacks are the most common cybertechnology enhancement and are essential for rigging and decking.
Variations on the basic datajack design include induction datajacks, eye laser datajacks, and wireless datajacks. A Direct Neural Interface or DNI resembles the function of a datajack, but only for internal cyberware devices.
Despite superficial similarities, a datajack should not be confused with a chipjack.
