The Gloaming Owl (Bubo crepusculi) is the Awakened version of the great horned owl (Bubo virginianus), and is similar in size and shape. It has black plumage, and for all appearances looks like a normal owl.
Like other owls, the gloaming owl is a nocturnal predator that feeds on small reptiles and mammals. The night vision of the gloaming owl is phenomenal, and it is speculated that it has thermographic vision. In addition to being silent in flight, similar to mundane owls, it appears to project a magical field of silence around it. It also appears to manifest the ability to magically Blind its prey and would-be attackers, along with projecting an emotional field of menace and alarm.
The gloaming owl has a slight allergy to sunlight. It lives in the grasslands, woods, and hills of the Great Lakes and the north-central part of North America.
