Halferville is a dwarven city in the San Francisco sprawl.

The dwarves's city of Halferville is a mostly subterranean city on the East Bay which was built by the dwarves themselves. Starting by the 2030s at the latest, for the next twenty years the East Bay dwarfs steadily turned their underground territory into a livable and beautiful city, though for those built like a dwarf. Caves have been described by visitors as engineering feets and works of art with cathedral-style fan-webbing bracing ceilings that reach great heights. Huge caverns are linked by an enormous and complicated network of dwarf-sized tunnels. Walls that are covered in beautiful and elegant carved designs. The city also has indirect lighting set up, giving the underground city a banked fire's glow casting shadows.[1]

During the occupation, the East Bay dwarves faced down the Japanese and forced them to back down and leave them alone, by threatening the Caldecott Tunnel.[2] To prevent the corporations from taking control of the tunnel and the land around the tunnel, the government of CalFree made an agreement with the East Bay dwarves. In exchange for the East Bay dwarves paying the Free State a modest mineral tax and maintaining the tunnel, they ceded to the dwarves the rights to the former state and national park lands in the Bay Area, including mineral rights.[3]
