The Korean gangs were able to take advantage of in-fighting among the Yakuza in the 2060s (the Shotozumi Uprising and the Watada-Mita War), and make significant gains in Japan (along with the Russian Bratva and the Chinese Triads). The Yakuza syndicate that lost the most were the Mita-gumi.
These Korean syndicates are connected to the Jo-poks back in Korea. They either run Matrix-based criminal enterprises (e.g. online casinos) or operate protection rackets in the ethnic slums on immigrants.
