Lofwyr is a Great Western Dragon. His scale coloration is gold. He is primarily known for being the solitary owner of Saeder-Krupp and thus the wealthiest individual on Earth. His main residence is located within Saeder-Krupp arcology in Essen, Germany. He prefers a metahuman form of a Caucasian human with long steel-grey hair and golden eyes. He is the owner of the Jewel of Memory, an artifact that is significant to dragonkind in some way. His name is respected and feared all over the world, and it is his plots and actions that inspired the saying, "Never deal with a Dragon".

He has had a long-standing (albeit one-sided) conflict with former BMW chairwoman Wilhelmina Graff-Beloit, who had a massive stroke on the same day Nachtmeister and Lofwyr battled over Frankfurt. Graff-Beloit died six months later. It is rumored that Johnny Spinrad is continuing her crusade against him. Recently, increasing evidence is pointing to Lofwyr being the secret overlord of the Italian-German Mafia crime syndicate of the Gasperi family.[1]

History[]

Lofwyr awakened in March 2012 at Mauserberg near the Dauner Maare in the Eifel region. Unlike other German dragons, he talked his way past the military forces sent to secure the area.

In May 2012, he steps into a fight between the dragons Nebelherr and Kaltenstein, siding with the former, thus preventing rescue of Feuerschwinge from SOX. In 2036, Lofwyr accepts a seat on Tir Tairngire's Council of Princes, a position that he kept until June 2062.

In August 2035, Lofwyr steps forward as the majority shareholder of the BMW/Krupp empire. He incorporates several other corporations in the following years to form Saeder-Krupp.

In 2042, his Mauserberg lair was destroyed during the eruptions of the Eifel volcanoes, and he subsequently moved into the Saeder-Krupp headquarters in the Rhine-Ruhr Megaplex.

In 2051 he was up to his claws into extraction of big part of Morgana AI research data from Renraku arcology and also in death of western dragon Hässlich, which ruled over United Oils Lmt. At that time he also had a sasquatch shamaness by name of Jaquline as secretary.

In 2054 he manipulates events in Berlin.

In 2057, the Jewel of Memory was bequeathed to him by the late Dunkelzahn.

On November 5 and 6, 2074, the Great Dragon Civil War ends with a climactic battle in GeMiTo.[2] Lofwyr assembled a large army of mercenaries, shadowrunners, drakes, dracoforms, and two other Great Dragons; Lung and Arleesh. Over the course of 16 hours, they fought against Alamais's forces. Lofwyr was mortally wounded but was able to kill his brother with the aid of a team of Shadowrunners.

Lofwyr steps down as Loremaster and appoints the position to Celedyr.

Relationship with Other Dragons[]

Lofwyr had a long-standing rivalry with his brother Alamais. He also is quite hostile and competitive toward Ghostwalker, whom he sees as a rival. Aden considers Lofwyr's activities in the Middle East an intrusion on his/her turf, and thus the two do not get along (DotSW, 187). He has a newfound respect for Hestaby, which may have led to the reason why he abdicated his Council seat in favor of her.

He remains neutral to most other Great Dragons, although he reportedly killed the great dragon Nachtmeister on June 21, 2062 over a dispute of some sort. He was given the Jewel of Memory by Dunkelzahn in his will, which implies some sort of respect between the two (albeit with Dunkelzahn reminding him, in said will, that by the scale of the universe, Lofwyr and indeed all dragons are little or no more significant than the metahumans Lofwyr manipulates).

Earthdawn[]

In the Earthdawn sourcebook: Dragons there is mention that the great dragon Alamaise (the Fourth World version of Alamais) has a brother living near or around the Theran Province of Vasgothia. While not named, it is implied that this is Lofwyr. On p.176 of the Vasgothia sourcebook, there is an illustration with Elder Futhark runes that spell out ''Lofwyr Lied'' carved into the statue of one of the dead Vasgothian Passions.
