Lung is a Male Great Eastern Dragon whose primary interest is in China and the Pacific Ring of Fire. He is described as ruby red with gold highlights. In his true form, Lung is several hundred feet long. He typically takes a metahuman form of a Chinese human dressed in Mandarin robes or business attire. While he does not have one official translator, he has a whole "family" of metahumans that act as his spokespeople. His primary lair is the T'ai Shan Mountain, Shandong, China. It is rumored that he is the leader of several Triads, most notably the Red Dragon Triad. He is described as a reclusive and patient dragon who tends to plan and manipulate things in the shadows, slowly spreading his domain rather than taking aggressive actions.

Lung has a great interest in "dragon lines", or mana lines, and takes great lengths to control or manipulate these mana lines. It is rumored that his manipulation of the mana lines prevented the natural disasters that fell on the Pacific Ring of Fire from affecting mainland China, the same natural disasters that decimated Japanese-controlled territory.

Lung is also interested in the Four Coins of Luck. He was granted the "Second Coin of Luck" by Dunkelzahn in his will, and seeks to control three of the four coins (all of the coins except the Third Coin of Luck possessed by Sharon Chiang-Wu).

Lung has a side interest in world religions, specifically smaller religious groups that are not affiliated or influenced by secular agendas. He is known to make large donations to religions of all kinds, and he is very critical of communism's Marxist sentiment that "religion is the opiate of the masses". He is a proponent of greater religious tolerance and spirituality in China's government.

History

Lung first emerged out of his slumber in 2012 on Mt. Emei, near Leshan, Sichuan, China. He was later seen flying over the Great Wall of China, and mostly disappeared from public view until 2017, when he was seen at the site of a Triads war. In the aftermath of the conflict, the local headquarters of the Triad called the Majestic Peacock Association went up in flames, with Lung emerging from the roof of the burning building and vanishing into the clouds. Subsequently, a group called the Red Dragon Triad (formerly the Red Fists) started to expand its operations, with the backing of Lung behind the scenes.[1]

After the collapse of the Chinese government and the fragmentation, the Triads (especially the Red Dragons) sold weapons, food, technology, and whatever else was needed to the warlords and the desperate people who lived under their rule. They made a lot of money doing so and Lung directed the Red Dragons to use their profits to build-up their criminal empire, and not just in Hong Kong and mainland China. Under their guidance the Red Dragons expanded throughout the Pacific Rim. Overwhelming local outfits with their strange, powerful magic. Absorbing smaller Triads and seizing control of new markets.[2]

In 2057, he is granted the Second Coin of Luck from Dunkelzahn's Will. In 2062, Lung occupies T'ai Shan Mountain at the beginning of the Chinese New Year, and claims it as his new lair. He also makes many public appearances and interviews that year, showing himself more in that year than any other year previously. This media blitz ends with the next Chinese New Year, and Lung once more becomes a recluse.

Lung was one of the three great dragons, that attacked Alamais in early spring 2075 in GeMiTo with a small army of shadowrunners, mercenaries and lesser dracoforms, to finish him and end his reign of terror. (The two other great dragons were Lofwyr himself and the great feathered serpent Arleesh). When Lofwyr became badly hurt because he was targeted with ritual magic used by the Black Lodge while he was duelling with his brother Alamais, it was Lung, who performed magical healing on Lofwyr, probably saving the loremaster's life. [3] Due to his loyalty and assistance, when the hoards of Alamais and Hestaby were divided up, the largest share went to Lofywer, Arleesh, and Lung. The enormous wealth he received angered his rival Ryumyo[4]

Relationship with Other Dragons

Lung has a major rivalry with Ryumyo, and the two often lock horns over the control of the Pacific Ring of Fire. Recently, Lung has shown an interest in the work of Masaru and the Philippines. Other dragons tend to stay away from the struggles of the Eastern Dragons in the Pacific Ocean, but Hestaby is starting to make moves against the Great Eastern Dragons. It also seems that several other Great Dragons have an interest in the Four Coins of Luck, of which Lung possesses at least one (if not more).
