The North Sea is a part of the Atlantic Ocean located between the Eastern coast of Great Britain and Southern Scandinavia.

Wide parts of the North Sea are hostile and dangerous to mankind - a century of garbage-dumping and various nuclear and chemical catastrophes in the past have turned the water into a toxic soup.
Strange mutated critters roam the waves and toxic spirits haunt the area. Astral space mirrors the pollution of the mundane world, resulting in background count that makes magic difficult and actually leads to magicians feeling sick.
While the fishing industry of old is almost dead (as there are almost no edible fishes left) various corporations are active in the North Sea, drilling for oil or harvesting natural resources from the ocean floor.
Of special note are Proteus' giant Arkoblock arcologies.
