Info: If you want to use the 6WW/Dumpshock skin (monobook)
Go to http://shadowrun.wikia.com/index.php?title=Special:Preferences and select the monobook skin from the "Site Layouts" section in the "My info" tab. This skin is not as supported as the wikia default, but personally I like it more. Some dumpshock users may find that useful. --Piotrus 16:40, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
French interwiki-links
How to add links to http://shadowrun.fr/wiki in this wiki ? Archaos-JdR (talk) 21:25, January 29, 2013 (UTC)
Open: Embedding GoogleMaps
I'd like to try and embed some GoogleMaps that players have created based off of the SR world. I've read up that it requires access to mediawiki pages, but when I tried to create one of these pages I couldn't edit the page. So if someone could make a mediawiki page with:
<iframe width="425" height="350" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=201375040006088778489.0004dc233c3f9a36e7362&msa=0&ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=42.029492,-87.81578&spn=0.927745,0.830841&output=embed"></iframe> View <a href="https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=201375040006088778489.0004dc233c3f9a36e7362&msa=0&ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=42.029492,-87.81578&spn=0.927745,0.830841&source=embed" style="color:#0000FF;text-align:left">Shadowrun - Chicago 2073</a> in a larger map
so we can test it out, that'd be good, or if there is some way I can get access to create mediawiki pages, that'd be cool too.

- You may need to ask as the generic wikia help forums about that. At least I have no clue how to help you out here :( --Piotrus (talk) 17:15, July 31, 2013 (UTC)
Open: Background image and readability
I think the big "Shadowrun" logo on the background image makes the articles harder to read. Maybe we could use a different wallpaper or make the article background more opaque? --ShxLoki (talk) 00:25, December 6, 2012 (UTC)
I don't know if it's just me but the readability with the transparency is bad imo. Particularly when you have a role-playing and text heavy focus to articles. The rest is fine, just that transparency... I think it detracts from the usability and does not benefit appearance-wise. Citadel535 (talk) 23:45, July 29, 2013 (UTC)
- No, as you can see from my comment above. I see exactly the same problem.
- --ShxLoki (talk) 08:53, July 30, 2013 (UTC)
- I have no problem if someone wants to experiment andchange it. Don't ask me how to do it, however :) --Piotrus (talk) 17:14, July 31, 2013 (UTC)
Open: Category cleanup
I am beginning category cleanup for characters. I want us to have a nice category system so that people writing modules for SR and later SO can easily find info about canon characters, sorted by profession, race, time and place. To do:
- remove al 3E / 4E categories, it will be enough to have Category:Characters with 3E stats and Category:Characters with 3E stats. Things like Gangers 3E will be just Gangers, etc. This means creating a lot of categories (for example [[:Category::Gangers]] does not exist yet (will in few minutes/days).
- populate: Category:People by time (so we can find characters by year they were mentioned in sources). This will have have the structure Category:People of 2050s->Category:People of 2051.
- populate: Category:People by profession (how to classify a bartender?)
- populate: Category:People by location (ditto for location). This will have have the structure Category:People in UCAS->Category:People in Seattle
- populate: Category:People by allegiance. This will have the structure: Category:People by nationality, Category:People by megacorp allegiance, Category:People by criminal organization allegiance
- delete category:Non-player characters by merging it with category:People
- clean up capitalization, i.e. rename Category:Sentient Creatures to Category:Sentient creatures
- more, to be added here.
Feel free to ask questions if anyone is not sure what or why am I doing this. --Piotrus (talk) 17:45, July 31, 2013 (UTC)
- Okay. - It's all okay (also I'm not sure for the "People by time"-thing). - It's a lot of work ...but someone has to do it.
- --Dorle (talk) 17:53, July 31, 2013 (UTC)
- I am not totally happy with the name, but couldn't think of anything else that is short. "People by time of appearance"? --175.114.178.243 21:20, July 31, 2013 (UTC)
Posting Order
Just an aside. I would suggest to always add the newest discussion at the top of the discussion page. At least for long ones.
--ShxLoki (talk) 18:35, July 31, 2013 (UTC)
- Personally I prefer the Wikipedia bottomposting... --175.114.178.243 21:20, July 31, 2013 (UTC)
Open: Content presentation - Shadowrun digital games vs Shadowrun pen & paper
I think we generally agree that we want the old Dumpshock wiki format, which treated articles as encyclopedic entries about the Sixth World with all references to its fictious nature confined to a meta information section. So there already is a certain tension between game content and the main sources from the pen & paper rpg. So some pointers might be warranted.
- Me too, I was thinking more about the old games. Nonetheless if you go back to the old stuff most of the time you will introduce new problems. Case in point with Shadowrun Returns Marie-Louise Telestrian is James' younger sister but his daughter in the world of Shadowrun Returns.

Category:Shadowrun Returns - people
Hmmm, I am not sure if we need Category:Shadowrun Returns - people. Rather, if he appears in the game, I'd clearly state so (also, in which campaign - official or fanmade? if the latter, it probably is not useful to mention it at all). Of more use would be adding him to Category:People of 2050s as all of them are, in reality, "people of SRR era" and can appear in game.--Piotrus (talk) 00:26, August 1, 2013 (UTC)
