Thailand is a country in Southeast Asia.
History[edit | edit source]
The Kingdom of Thailand traces its roots back to 1200 CE when the nation won its independence from the Khmer Empire. Thailand was the only south-east Asian country not to be colonised by the European empires. During much of the late twentieth century, the nation was known for its decadent and debaucherous nightlife, as well as its many Buddhist temples.
The dawn of the twenty-first century began badly for the region, as VITAS, natural disasters and many wars ravaged southern Asia. When King Rama XII died with no heir, the military junta took control (with help from mostly Japanese corporate interest). Thailand eventually recovered from the internal strife and natural disasters, but at the cost of great metahuman life. The country gained a lot of territory from neighbouring Cambodia and Laos but lost the entire Pattani region to Muslim separatists that had been fighting a long war for control of the region.
