The Torpedo Shark (Portheus velocis) is the Awakened form of the blue shark. It has a remarkable body which resembles that of a whale, but its physiology is that of a shark. Torpedo sharks grow to a length of up to 5.0 meters, with small eyes shielded by heavy brow ridges and a large "torpedo-like" body structure which gives the shark its namesake. Most torpedo sharks range from a bluish-gray to black.
The torpedo shark is a fast-moving predator that eats just about anything, from fish to seals to other sharks. They are solitary hunters who can smell blood over the distances of several kilometers. They have been known to cooperate with other torpedo sharks to drive off other sharks and predators, and never attack one another over prey.
There have been unsubstantiated reports of torpedo sharks ramming small boats and attacking metahumans. The torpedo shark has been observed obtaining ramming speeds of up to 35 knots for less than 10 seconds.
