The Yamato-gumi is a Yakuza syndicate that was based in the city of Denver.

The Yamato-gumi were a syndicate member of the Shotozumi-rengo.[1] In the late 2050s, the Yamato-gumi and the Naito-gumi used to control half of the trade in BTLs and drugs in Denver. Then they got into a war with the Triads and the T-Bird smugglers. By 2060, they had lost territory and a good chunk of the BTL trade.[2]

Ghostwalker's rampage in 2062 wiped out the Naito clan, their main rival in Denver. The Yamato-gumi had afterwards diversified into data brokerage, but found themselves embroiled in a multi-year war with the otaku.

In 2071, shadowrunners killed Johnny Ono and Kazuya Hotomi, the clan's Wakagashira and Kodai. In 2072, the clan's Oyabun, Kasigi Toda committed seppuku after being replaced as leader by Mikko Toyama.

It was also involved in more traditional criminal enterprises such as gambling.[3]

Oyabun Toyama created a special strike force of ninja, specially trained for the purpose of grabbing and selling technomancers to Mitsuhama.

Toyama was killed in his Cherry Hills compound by a Vory hit-squad led by Mikhail Petrov; among the casualties was Katsuo Sawaruma, the Saiko-Komon of the clan. Wakagashira Seth Kraemer survived the attack.

In the Siege of Denver in 2074, the Yamato-gumi were one of the casualties as they were virtually destroyed, practically leaving Denver with no Yakuza.[4]
